Tsafrir Goldberg

A Bible and history teacher for twelve years, Tsafrir Goldberg's experiences in diverse classrooms in an urban school have led to a life time interest in the ways students identity intertwines with their engagement in difficult histories. His studies document the ways Israelis of European and Middle-Eastern discuss ongoing ethnic tensions through the histories of mass immigration. In consequent projects and curricular activities, Dr. Goldberg has shown how the study of the difficult history of the Jewish Palestinian war impacts Jewish and Palestinian youths deliberation of the roots and resolution of protracted conflict. In his current position as head of the teacher education track in Israel's most culturally diverse university, Dr Goldberg attempts to apply his insights to enhance Jewish Muslim, Druze and Christian's students learning together. in an ongoing project, he is exploring the possibility that a difficult history could actually be a history of harmonious intergroup co-existence and cultural inspiration, tracing Jewish and Muslim adolescents reactions to studying Jewish - Muslim intercultural influences in the middle ages.
